This past week, nature graced my little world with chilly weather. I woke up Thanksgiving morning to a frosty landscape – a rare treat down here on the Louisiana bayous.
When I walked outside to experience the cold, a smile settled in my spirit. It has been a long journey for this frazzled soul to find contentment. To find a place to belong on this planet.

I’ve wandered the globe in search of “it.” Some people are born knowing – it’s right in front of their faces, so they grab onto it and keep a hold of it their entire lives.
Some of us are slow learners.
It’s not out there. It’s in here.
It’s nice to exist without my thoughts constantly shouting at me, demanding my attention, exhausting me.
Home.
Before I went inside, I noticed a line slicing the sky in two. Travelers. I used to be one of those people, sadly. Now, I am here, with my feet planted on the ground, establishing roots (dare I hope?).
The soul has settled. Now the mind can rest.
