From Blizzards to Pear Blossoms

Our world turned white just a few short weeks ago when we were graced with three inches of snow in our part of the bayou state. March was acting very lion-like when the calendar turned.

Blizzard 2015 (19)

Winter is my favorite season, even though we don’t get much of one here in Louisiana. Still, a girl can dream – and sometimes dreams come true, depending on what the dream is.

A white landscape doesn’t look barren to me. I find comfort in it. But had I blinked, I would have missed it. Such only lasted a day or so.

As March began to tiptoe out, the pear tree blossoms were the first to pop. The muted grey sky morphed into a brilliant blue, and the sun said hello for the first time in what must have been months.

I wasn’t quite ready for the transformation, but the buds softly remind me of the snow that once was. Snow trees – that’s what I call them – coax me ever-so-gently into spring.
