The birds were singing this misty morning on the bayou. It was my eyes that did most of the listening, however. Camellias – draped in the fog – welcomed the new day, affirming that grey days don’t have to be dreary days.
These pretty little gifts from nature reminded me of the reasons why autumn is my favorite season.

I hope all of you are having a lovely autumn.

These are beautiful photos! I’m not sure where you are, but it looks like a nice, calming place to do some good writing and thinking 🙂 I hope you’re well!
“La Guapa” 😛
Sweet, sweet, Charisse. I’m in north-central Louisiana – back for a while, hopefully forever….but I never say “forever.”
Come visit! ❤
I love misty mornings! Our mornings are frosty and, yes, almost winter-like. Lovely flowers!
Misty mornings are ethereal, aren’t they? ❤
Camellias make me miss home. Too many of the things I love do not grow here in the sand. The only bit of home I have managed are Natchez Whites and 4 o’clocks. Great pix.
Thanks for visiting, Red. I know what you mean – I miss home for several years before coming back. ❤
My sisters and my daughters have been putting up brilliant photos of camellias the last two weeks. My mother has a dwarf one with salmony-red blooms which looks like it is on fire when it bloom. Le sigh. I think I need to go home for C-mas. ❤
They are just the most beautiful flowers. My favorite are Pink Perfection. I don’t have any, but one day – when I get a house again – I will surround myself with them again. ❤
I love how the Camellia’s frame the scene of the misty pond! So pretty! I can almost smell the woodsmoke…xx
A lovely morning it was, Karen. Just cold enough for a fire in the fireplace. ❤
I’ve always loved the contrast of full foliage against a grey sky.
One of life’s calmer joys.
Looks like you’re having a beautiful autumn!
I hope you are having a beautiful autumn, too, Guap! ❤
Dearest Stacy,
Lovely photos from the tea roses, or camellias as we call them. Their evergreen leaves are already brightening a winter landscape and the flowers are pure joy. Wishing you a happy weekend and a happy birthday to your sweetheart!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Yes, Mariette – camellias really do brighten the autumn and winter landscape down here in the South, don’t they?
Have a great weekend! ❤
