The burst of color settled on my home as the sun got caught in the treetops. Captured for only a moment, yet captured for all time.
Its radiance freeze-framed within the soul of the image.
Sunsets used to carry my spirit with them – beyond the horizon to Van Diemen’s Land where my soul would get lost if I weren’t careful to hide while the sun was leaving me.
Here in the country, I don’t have to close the drapes to avoid the sun’s descent.
To espy the waning of the country sun is to participate in the splendor of its farewell.
Every time I see a beautiful sunset, it is as thought I am seeeing one for the first time, be they in reality or gorgeous photos like these. Aren’t they magical Stacy? It’s interesting that your spirit would soar all the way to Van Diemen’s Land, that’s quite a long way! 🙂
Yes – the setting sun used to take my soul a long way away, but out here on Dream Tree Bayou, I can enjoy the sunsets rather than run away and hide – I love it here! ❤
This is a beautiful sunset, Stacy. You done good.
Thanks, but I didn’t make it. (haha) I just captured its likeness. ❤
Really beautiful!
Thanks, Thursday. 🙂
Wow! Makes any other weather problems you’ve had worth dealing with.
You said it, Guap. Hurricane shmurricane. ❤
BEautiful sunset! I like the literary image of the sun getting caught up in the tree tops as it sinks down low.
My husband came inside to get me when the sun was setting so that I would not miss this sight! ❤
Very lovely sunset and words, Stacy. Your soul could certainly get carried away by that beautiful scene! xx
Carried away, yes, and relieved. ❤
Dearest Stacy,
Great poetry with lovely and colorful photos!
Van Diemen is Dutch… as was Abel Tasman who discovered Tasmania.
Enjoy the transition into spring and all its colors on the horizon.
Hugs,
Mariette

Yes, I learned that it was a reference to Tasmania through an Emily Dickinson poem “If You Were Coming in the Fall” – kind of meaning a faraway place….like Timbuktu. ❤
Beautiful, pictures and thoughts.
Many thanks for the compliment, Bonnie! ❤
What an amazing set! In the first one, the clouds look like a soft cotton blanket… Gorgeous!
Merci bien! ❤
What an amazing sunset! It looks like the sky is on fire!
Thank you – I was humbled by it. ❤
