Thoreau spent two years in the woods. He did this for a reason, you know.
I would stay away for two years, too, but I have another life to live. So when the Shadow threatens to purloin Joy from my soul, I venture outside for solace offered by the universe. Like a sunset.
Oh, how the sun smoothed my ruffled humanity tonight as it sank behind my bayou cabin!
Cotton-candy pink means that everything will be all right – at least for one night.
“Red skies in the morning,
Sailors take warning.
Red skies at night,
Sailors sleep tight.”
Sleep tight, Gentle Reader, but not before you go outside. ♥

We have a similar saying here in the UK too… Red sky at night a Shepherd’s
delight, and red sky in the morning, a Shepherd’s warning… You live is such a
breathtakingly awesome location 🙂

How interesting. This little bayou is a very soothing place to be, offers as much peace as one can find here on this crazy planet. ❤
It sounds really nice 🙂

Beautiful! And I’m glad peace is there for you right outside your door.
Or anywhere you can see a sunset…
Exactly – that’s my point (though unstated). Nature and it’s balm is right there for everyone. You’re so perceptive. ❤
I remember hungrily devouring Thoreau in college, long before we moved into the woods. I am glad nature’s balm has eased your soul. Ruffled humanity can be so challenging, darn it.
I still love Thoreau. He knew what I have always felt, and had the wherewithal to write about it! ❤
I loved Thoreau when I was young; a little less later on when I learned how short a time he spent at Walden Pond and that he took his laundry home for his mother to do for him . . . but I still enjoy his writings.
I, too, find nature is great for soothing ruffled feathers (mine); I used to love being outside and if I were upset, finding one of the horses and standing with my arms round its neck. They are very comforting at times. I miss being out in nature. There is a great view from Mum’s balcony, but a major street right below means dust and noise 24 hours a day. My solution is to focus my mind on places I’ve lived that were far from cities or towns and only the sounds of nature could be heard. So lovely!
Your skies are so gorgeous; I’m glad you find comfort outdoors, too. ~ Linne
I do enjoy where I live, Linne, but it has been a long time coming. I lived in cities all of my life, but finally have made it to where my heart has always been. ❤
Stacy, how wonderful to see you again, and a beautiful sunset can certainly bring music to our soul. Hybernation serves a purpose, until we realise that there is a whole life out there, just waiting to be lived. ❤
Well said, Joanne. ❤
A soothing message for the soul and the spirit. We rarely take the time to enjoy what is right within our sight.
So true, Ann – but it’s time now! So good to hear from you. ❤
