A little fellow inhabited a tree outside our bedroom window in Lomé. He was quite beautiful, but he liked to greet the world every morning with a shriek that sounded like “PIP pip PIP pip SHRIIIIIEEEEK.”

Because Togo sits just north of the equator, morning came at 6:00 every day of the year. Our feathered friend liked to start his morning call usually an hour before sunrise – even on weekends.

He was quite an elusive creature for having such a loud set of pipes.

Where did he go? Just follow the noise.

Does anyone know this friendly little bird? If so, can you ask him to tone it down until, say until 10 am?
