The Easiest Way to Peel Shrimp

I found this thingamajig in the kitchen aisle at a grocery store. No, it’s not a medieval torture device – it’s a shrimp peeler and makes peeling shrimp a snap because it peels and deveins simultaneously. I’ll show you how it works.

First, rinse the shrimp.

Pop the head off by bending at the joint between the head and body.

Insert the whatchmacallit into the spine of the shrimp.

Keep inserting all the way to the tail.

Gently lift the shell away from the flesh.

Voilà! Peeled and deveined!
