While in Benin, Norm and I noticed a line of fishermen on the beach, carrying their cast net towards the water.
As they approached the water, onlookers gathered…
…to watch them wrestle the sea.
This time, they vanquished the ocean.
The sea gave up its bounty.
This day, the fishermen could go home…
…successful…
…to feed their families.
Beautiful pictures! I love the pretty woman in the long dress and the lovely color of the sea. How wonderful that you were there to witness the nets being set out and brought in full. xx
Thanks, Karen. I thought that young woman was so beautiful. She is wearing a dress made of the very colorful traditional West African fabric called “pagne” (pronouced pan-ya).
