MawMaw always made Chicken ‘n’ Dumplings, but you can add the dumplings to any stew. Today I’m going to show you how to make the Dumplings half. (Here is the chicken half of the recipe.) Dumplings are almost like biscuits…almost.
Ingredients: 2 c flour, 1 T baking powder, 2/3 c milk, 1 egg.
Mix the flour and baking powder.
Mix until you have a sticky mass of dough.
Refrigerate until you are ready to add it to the chicken (or whatever kind of stew). Drop by tablespoonfuls into the stew; cover the pot and let stew for 10 minutes. Turn the dumplings over and stew for another 5 minutes.
They’re that simple to make.
I love dumplings! I always put them in beef stew, but I have never made them from scratch. (I use Bisquick) Now I can make my own! Thanks Stacy Lyn! xx
You’re welcome! MawMaw taught me to cook from scratch – mostly because of the cost, but I find it’s not much more trouble than using mixes. ❤
