MawMaw used to make Drop Biscuits for breakfast on holidays. These take less time than traditional biscuits because you don’t roll and cut them, and for this reason, MawMaw made them quickly when she was busy preparing other dishes.
Well, today is not really a holiday – except in France. It’s the second round of the presidential elections. Sounds like a good enough reason to bake some Drop Biscuits.
Yield: 8-10 biscuits
Ingredients:
- 2 c flour
- 1 T baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 c shortening or 1 stick butter
- 1 c milk
Sift together dry ingredients.
Cut in shortening or butter until the size of small crumbs.
Add milk and stir until blended.
Drop by tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes.
Slather with butter, and presto – delicious hunk of dough!
Perfect breakfast (or snack) on a busy election day – in France or anywhere!
